Last Quarter's Exchange Hiring Signals: What We Got Right (And Wrong)

We publish our track record because accuracy claims are meaningless without transparency. Here's a full review of Q1 2026.

Q1 2026 Prediction Results

Total predictions resolved in Q1: 14
Correct: 12 (86%)
Incorrect: 2 (14%)

The Wins

  • OKX MENA regulatory approval (predicted Feb 3, announced Mar 12) ✓
  • Binance derivatives product launch for APAC (predicted Jan 15, announced Feb 28) ✓
  • Kraken institutional custody tier (predicted Dec 2025, announced Jan 2026) ✓
  • Bybit compliance expansion into Europe (predicted Jan 22, announced Mar 1) ✓

The Misses

  • Gemini US re-expansion into derivatives — still pending regulatory approval. We predicted Q1; now looking like Q2 or Q3.
  • BitMEX new product launch — their hiring surge didn't convert to a launch. Still investigating.

What We Learn From Misses

Both misses involved regulatory-dependent timelines. Hiring signals predict intent and preparation accurately. But regulatory delays can push timelines by months. We're building a "regulatory lag" adjustment into the model for Q2.
